Is it alright to use body bath or shower gel for my hair (dreads) instead of shampoo?

here's the situation..i have dreadlocks and people say that i should use residue free shampoo..but here in the philippines, there are no distributors of such products (ie.dreadhead HQ/knotty boy shampoos).. then i found this body bath and shower gel.. no artificial fragrance and it has natural lavender and tea tree oil..i have read that some people recommend these for dreads but i'm not sure if i should use this product because its for the body/skin..

is it safe to use shower gel for my hair?? thanx guys!Is it alright to use body bath or shower gel for my hair (dreads) instead of shampoo?

no its to alkaline and is not the right pH-balances...your hair will look dull....
i think it would be fine just dont over do it and if it gives you a rash then it may be time to find a new shampoo or drop the dreadlocks
use Suave or V05 Daily clarifying shampoo.
No! as it says it is for your body not your hair, have you ever heard of Head and Shoulders? that should do it. After I used it for a week my hair looked so much healthier!
go to motowngirl.com they have alot of thing that are home made for the hair like your and the work and what so nice the thing s you need is in your house hope this is help
even though it might be somewhat safe, it isn't. It will dry out your hair really fast with constant use and in turn, your hair will begin to break off. hope that helps. If you find any natural oils then just use that. Our skin needs moisture after using those products, that is why distributors recommend conditioner for our hair after use of shampoo.
I use shampoo as body wash sometimes, so I guess soap is soap. think of 100 years ago, they used lye soap. I think you are pretty safe.
not sure ..maybe if it is supposed to be stronger maybe it will work :)
