Is it true that you should not take a bath or shower during a lightning storm?

Yes, it's true, like the other person said water conducts electricity. You should also not talk on the phone. Is it true that you should not take a bath or shower during a lightning storm?
It can be. There is a show called MythBusters on the Discovery Channel which checks out all types of urban legends. They recreated a typical bathroom, complete with running water and a shower, and enclosed a dummy made with a material which simulates the human flesh and attached it to a machine which measures voltage . Of course, they couldn't duplicate the strength of lightning, so they took it to the next best thing--a power plant. There might be a video of it somewhere on youtube, or something.

But the chances are slim of that ever happening. So yes, but more likley no.

Hope that helpsIs it true that you should not take a bath or shower during a lightning storm?
Stay away from plumbing pipes (bath tub, shower). Lightning has the ability to strike a house or near a house and impart an electrical charge to the metal pipes used for plumbing. This threat is not as great as it used to be, because PVC (polyvinyl chloride) is often used for indoor plumbing these days. If you are not sure what your pipes are made of, wait it out.

all lies,, i have taken showers before during thunderstorms,,, it just a myth,, you never hear the news saying young girl dies after taking a shower during a thunderstorm... come on people that's just to scare you it's not like you are showering under a tree, with will definitely kill you
yes, the electricity from the lightning can travel through the pipes and electricute you same for the phone trust me i'm from the midwest =)
It isn't a great idea because there is possibility up getting struck by lightning but not much of a chance
true, unless the possibility of electrocution appeals to you
Well duh ya,

The lightning could come trogh the pipes and get ya. %26lt;:P

Well if you dont believe me try it your self%26gt;
